Cameron Patthanacharoenphon, MD, FAAOS, (Dr. Cam) discovered his passion for orthopedics after volunteering for a year with AmeriCorps in Utah, where he provided adaptive recreational experiences for people with disabilities. Dr. Cam chose to specialize in foot and ankle orthopedic surgery to help patients get back to "doing," whether that is sports, recreation or just everyday living. Dr. Cam completed a fellowship at Harbor View Medical Center in Seattle, Wash. which is one of the most renowned trauma centers in the United States. During his fellowship, Dr. Cam trained with some of the top ankle surgeons in the country, including Dr. Sigvard T. Hansen, one of the pioneers of orthopedic trauma surgery in the United States. Dr. Hansen is known as the "father of modern traumatology." Dr. Cam specializes in the management of foot and ankle reconstruction, trauma care and sports injuries. Dr. Cam also provides general fracture care, and treats upper and lower extremity trauma. Dr. Cam earned his medical degree from the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, as well as a Master of Science in biomedical engineering and a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan. In his free time, Dr. Cam enjoys spending time with his niece, skiing, being outdoors, traveling and cheering on Michigan football.
Dr. Cam's last name is Thai. His father is Chinese but was born and raised in Thailand. His last name is pronounced, "Pa Tin Ah Chair Own Pon."
